This past Spring I went bike hunting at a townwide garage sales in a fairly good sized suburb.......I arrived early and went to a ton of sales, came up dry most of the day. It was getting late in the day and sales were starting to close up, I was heading out of town hitting a few sales on my way out and found a house with about 8 or 9 vintage road bikes out front. I asked the lady what she wanted for them and she said she'd start bargaining at $25 each. She had more in the basement. I took home 14 bikes that day, many of them in parts for about $340. They included a Trek 600 and 400, Bianchi Stelvio, Raleigh Gran Prix 531, Schwinn LeTour and frames that included a Schwinn Prelude, Panasonic DX3000, Follis, Miyata Ninety and a Motobecane. I ended up taking 3 complete bikes back, we exchanged numbers and she wanted a couple of them back so I obliged. One of the bikes a returned was a 555 Raleigh Team USA.

The chrome Paramount listing was a reply to the "list your best find of the year". I happily paid the asking price for it.

Fun bike. but a little esoteric in the USA. Also, I have had some... intriguing to place it politely, issues with Italian sellers. Some might be my language challenges, but more likely a bad assumption of what I would and would not regard as being important. Poor assumptions cloud many an otherwise acceptable deal, and to delineate everything to someone in another language is not a small amount of work. The distance can outweigh the problem to be corrected too. I am also not in a position to travel there on an even remotely frequent basis. For World travelers, the perspective is probably different. I think for someone who has command of that foreign language bidding on an auction like this one is not a problem.

$50 Benotto 1000 project bike in Sarasota, FL
The CL posting was misspelled and pictureless, but I went to check it out tonight.
about a 59 or 60cm frame with lots of surface rust and a decent sized ding in the seat-tube. cosmetically poor, but:
nice pantoed Benotto Campy G.S. crankset and pantoed stem, Record hubs, headset, SR clamp-on FD, Nuovo RD
also an Athena brake up front, 105 levers

I would've picked it up for the parts if I lived here, but I'm just visiting for a couple weeks and can't deal with bike grease while there's a pool out back!

fwiw, you have to get the window to show codes (easiest clicking on the image first to zoom & then right-clicking on it and selecting 'show source' or something like that) & then pull out the https://..... .jpg from the string of code from the zoom window if you're trying to reference Ebay for pics.

There are 25 vintage forks are from 1983 or earlier. Some are the flat Schwinn forks. Some are 27" and others are smaller. I will sell individually and can ship.

An excellent deal, though the freewheel threading is Italian, I think.
