I don't think it was meant that way judging from his verbiage/language choices. I think the guy's a wonky kid, or an adult with a serious case of arrested development.

I get that these are rare, valuable bikes - and that you can't exactly just chose another seller if you want a Herse - but to me it's a turn off. I'm not his market as I can't afford to pay $10,000 for a Herse, but he seems a bit off from who I'd expect to be the custodian of these bikes, and that makes me doubt his descriptions and knowledge base. His shipping commentary does as well. It certainly won't help his cause.

Closest I've seen is '70s Ciocc with a Hed 3. Hipsters of more modest means go for Aerospokes

Plenty of hipsters working tech jobs in Silicon Valley and Silicon Forest, buy whatever they want. Grow a beard, wear big glasses and skinny jeans, etc.

Plenty of hipster trustafarians, too, but most of them have moved on from bikes, I think. Seems Peak Fixie was 2007-ish in Portland.

Serotta Colorado 1980 original parts $999

Up for sale is 1980 Serotta Colorado. Columbus steel frame and fork. It has custom paint job that is original and has just few blemishes. Serial is 80901 size is 53cm top, 51 seat tube.

This bike is outfitted with Shimano 7speed index-shifter Sante BR5000 group. Group is complete and includes wheels hubs. There is some minor patina on the pedals. Rims are Sun Mistral m13l.

Campagnolo seat post and Cinelli Volare SLX seat with only one angle rub.
Cinelli stem and Handlebar. Tape on the bar has one rip and one cap is missing.

This bicycle was purchased from a family of former Serotta employees. Bike was in dry storage since 1980. It was not ridden more than 50 miles. all scuffs are from storage.

I am still cleaning the bike and will be tuning it up. I would prefer not to part it out at this point, but you can make on offer if you need some part of just frameset.

Unless someone retro-ized it, I'd guess very early '92 or '91 with those DT shift levers.

MOD NOTE: Let it drop. Personal insults will not be tolerated. Closing this thread while I go clean up some off-topic rants.

Thread re-opened. I deleted the ankle-biting. Some posts that were part of the conversation yet didn't violate any guidelines were also deleted so the thread would actually make sense when read later.

Please keep the topic of this thread on-topic, and not personal. Thanks.

Or, you could call them slacktivist hipster trustafarians if they ride their Cioccs to flash protests...just sayin

Something is seriously askew here. Rick Hunter is a custom builder in the SantaCruz area building some very fine bikes. This, on the other hand, is someones repaint of a lower-end production bike with bolt-on rear wheel and stamped dropouts. The logo does not match Rick's at all. Very odd.

Good eye Brent.

Doesn't look like my brother's Hunter. Not one bit.

This is how we get in trouble with builds that are not authentic.

Eventually, many escape the "mastermind" and then are sold to unsuspecting customers.

I would pass on this one as well.

Sure looks low miles. That Suntour claw derailer looks brand spankin' new. Looks like someone just took that bike out of the box last summer, bolted it together and got a couch saddle from Target.

Headtube looks like it has a faded sticker what probably used to read "Made in Taiwan".
