I thought the monocoque carbon Treks were good, and the glued frames were the not-so-great ones.
Anyway, that bike would be a good candidate for a GCN-style superbike makeover...

Good call on the knock-off. Also good call on the glued frames being blech. At a quick glance that bike looked older than '92 and I didn't notice the OCLV.

A drunken sailor must have built that bike.

Just ran into this minty 60's Super Sport on Minneapolis craigslist for $125.
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/a...888670905.html
I say 60s because I know they switched to 3-piece cranks in 72, and this one's rear derailleur is on a claw hanger... I think I've seen a couple with the one-piece crank and forged rear dropouts, but wouldn't swear to it.

I believe there were Super Sport models in the 60s with forged dropouts with integrated hanger, so you might have the timing backwards.

1986 Raleigh Alyeska - $220 Portland, OR
Mismatched wheelset (24 spoke on the front?!), but otherwise a sweet deal on what appears to be a 1986 model:

1987 Schwinn High Sierra, 19" frame, $140 @ Portland OR area, CraigsList
here is a nice vintage 87 schwinn high sierra ATB / MTB in lemon yellow, seat tube measures 19". in good shape, has misc. scratches and scrapes but pretty normal wear for its age. has almost all its original equipment, shimano deore shifting components, suntour roll cam brakes, shimano levers all work perfectly. It did have the odd ball bio-pace chainrings that are egg shaped so i switched them out with reg. chainrings. all chromoly frame and lots of mounts for fenders, racks etc. The bike has been serviced and regreased and is ready to roll. come by for a test ride. If the ad is up, it is still Available.

^^^^^ Hint to seller - yes, it's a "High" Sierra, and yes, it's a tall frame, but that doesn't mean you shoot EVERY photo vertically. Feels like you're looking through a slatted fence.
That yellow one with the roller cams is sweeeeet. But why oh why did they insist on those riser handlebars? Seen 'em on every HS I've come across. So many factors point the cool/dork needle toward cool -- color-keyed stem, nice thumbies, cool color options, and of course the roller-cams. Then the handlebar moves the needle back toward dork. First thing that came off mine.

tall people problem
The owner, if tall like me, would have to kneel to take a regular picture.

Not the best-priced Tempo I've seen, and the pics and text are.... er.... spartan. But given there's another Tempo a bit further down the page going for three times more, this one probably won't last.

I had this beautiful vintage frame (from the '80s) custom built into a modern road bike (with all new parts) in 2015. I've been lovingly riding it around Boston while I've lived here but sadly can't take it with me on this next move. I've since added a rear wheel rack for groceries and such.
Super fresh white and purple coloring!
I'm not too sure about the specific size stuff, but I'm 5'11" and the bike fits me perfectly. It could probably work for someone a few inches shorter or taller.
