Not sure of the quality, but probably adequate to clean/chase existing threads, and the starting price is certainly reasonable. Probably prudent to check the thread spec with the seller:

^^^^^^^^ The description (BC24R + BC24L) suggests that it's RH + LH thread. Besides, if it were just RH thread, wouldn't you need only one?

Good catch; I missed that. Posted before the caffeine hit.

Besides, if it were just RH thread, wouldn't you need only one?
For a piloted tap set like this, it's good to have a tap on both sides to ensure that both sides are coaxial.

I can't make heads or tails of this item description:

Brent

"DescriptionMaterial: steelWeight: approx 2kgUses: Due to the damage of the threaded rod caused by the middle shaft set, the five-way thread has its own burr, the thread is too shallow, the thread is not concentric, and the paint residue is trimmed.Dental knife: The dental knife is made of titanium on the outer layer and is durable. The handle is equipped with a concentric rod to ensure the concentricity of the five-pass tooth. When used in combination with the cutting oil, it can not only protect the dental knife, but also smooth the tapped teeth and achieve good results.E17L: Five-way shaft cutter. Inch ( 1.37" BC24R), the right tooth is mounted on one side with a concentric column.E17R: Five-way shaft cutter. Inch ( 1.37" BC24L ), the left tooth is installed on the side without the concentric column."

My neighbor made a living writing instructions for products in English. They could probably use him...Sounds like they want you to clean starter threads of paint with an exact knife.

I was taught to use them in unison. Install them both and turn together, for chasing/cleaning anyway

Very nice Trek; belongs to a forum member. I checked it out yesterday and would have bought it, but it’s way too big for me and parting it out felt all sorts of wrong. Looks better in person btw.
Sorry but I guess I don’t know how to grab a CL pic on my phone and insert in a post.

How to post photos with a phone: Use your phone to find the nearest library or coffee joint that has a real computer.

Yeah, that's a tall cool one. Alas, my 6'4" friend has a total blind spot for C&V; he's bitten by the black carbon bug. He's even given up on maintaining his 20-ish-year-old Cannondale hybrid, just as it's "coming of age".

So the divergent prices are starting to converge. The $325 Tempo is down to $290, and the $100 one is UP to $200. (Links above still apply.)

I think they mean the taps themselves when they say "Dental Knife". They have teeth ("dental"), and they cut ("knife"). It seems they were listing common uses for the bottom bracket tap: 1)Damage from the bottom bracket itself, 2)Threads have burrs, 3) Threads aren't deep enough, 4)Threads are mis-aligned, 5)Threads are full of paint residue.

The giveaway was them talking about the "dental knife" having titanium on the outside -- That's the gold color to the taps -- a thin layer of Titanium Nitride, a very hard ceramic coating that improves wear and cutter life.

Wow, my size too - I’m on a buying moratorium these days but would have broken it for that one.

Why do I expect that @Brewsmith is currently cleaning the tricolor group for resale?

1980's Shogun Road Bike - Needs Nothing, Ready to Ride! - $100 (Wilmington)

"Shogun road bike - 1984. Needs nothing! This bike was the high end road bike in the 80's, made in Japan. I just replaced the tires and tubes last month- 700 x 28mm. It's in exceptional condition for it's age as you can see from the pictures, and the paint is still in great shape, with just a few sratches. It comes with Shimano clip pedals and Shimano shoes size 44 (11 1/2 US). I also have regular pedals that come with the bike. It's a XL frame, so it's best for a rider 6' or taller.
The price is $100"
