Serotta Colorado 60cm - $550 (Manchester)
"Serotta Colorodo.
Hand-built construction with a really lovely mix of lugs and fillet brazing, with some classy pantographing throughout. Some cosmetic chips in the paint but nothing structural.
Build is a mishmash of Shimano stuff, some of it very nice and some of it just passable. Friction shifting on the dt right now but Tiagra 4700 front and rear dr’s, so a pair of those shifters would slot right in if you wanted to live that life.
bicycle frame material: steel
bicycle type: road
brake type: caliper
condition: good
electric assist: none
frame size: 60cm
handlebar type: drop
make / manufacturer: Serotta
model name / number: Colorado
suspension: none (rigid)
wheel size: 700C"

Also went and looked at this today, if only it was at least a size bigger. Rode fantastic anyway, probably should have pulled the trigger and made it work but one of these should be "right", such a wonderful bike.

Impulse Control Problem, or Excellent Bargain?
Lately I've been thinking about the lack of Italian bikes in my collection. I've read about their legendary ride quality and speed, but how much better than French, English, or even American bikes can they be?
Yes, I have the Bianchi Sport SX, but that frame was actually built in Taiwan, if not the whole bike. (Actually, the rest of the bike was custom-built by me in Minnesota.) Then today I got an email ping on this:
A mid-`80s Viner Special Touring frameset for $150, plus $60 shipping. I mean, normally what I would have done was research everything I could find on it before even thinking about bidding. But this was a BIN at $150, and a touring frame at that! So I jumped on it. And THEN I did the research... at this point, it looks like I scored one HELL of a deal. But... did I? I know this strays a bit from the thread subject matter, but I also know that this is where all the experts hang out. So... how did I do?

Super Tempting! I've never ridden a Davidson, but my FIL had a bike built by him back in the 80s. Was one of his first "real" bikes and he swears it was incredible. Left it in his car at a condo in Miami overnight, valet'd the car and when he returned the next day, no bike. Was surprised insurance actually paid him a sizeable lump for it, at least 30% more than what he paid.
Sadly(?!), just scored an A-D Olympian, bringing me back to N +5 for the 4th time this year, it should be here tomorrow. I've got three bikes listed on CL right now for sale, two bites on one of them. If I can get one ore more sold you'll have a PM in your inbox. But at that price, I'll be surprised if the Davidson is still around 48 hours from now.

Anyone know about this Miyata 1200? First I've heard of Shimano Sante. Look clean though, $400 CAD seems like a good price.

I know it's not the high end stuff that everyone dreams of finding but folks on here (on the US side of the border) seem to look back fondly on the Varsity.
$30 for a beater bike with DT shifting isn't bad

It did not sell well at all, and I have no idea what Shimano were thinking at the time. Maybe it was something along the lines of, "Hey, get with the times, it's 1988. These American yuppies have more money than common sense, let's cash in on it by charging top dollar for this pathetic low end groupset we painted white!"

1989 Peugeot Europe Express MTB, 21in frame, $208 (160 GBP) @ eBay.co.uk, Camberley/Surrey (UK) area.
Don't see these very often. Reynolds 531 ATB butted tube set, Shimano Deore XT groupset, thumbies, rack/fenders.

Unmolested Peugeot Europe Express 1989 21 Inch Retro Mountain Bike Deore XT Set
Retro Mountain bike, Peugeot Europe Express 1989 Model. (54cm / 21 Inch Frame), original available in Europe with 19, 21 and 23 Inch frames, this bike sits nicely in the middle.
The bike itself has travelled very few miles. Note that it’s still on its original tyres, which although cracked have the majority of their tread left on them ‘they do hold air’. Over the years though it has picked up various storage marks. These are just cosmetic.
I believe it has full period Deore XT Group Set, matched with a Reynolds 531 Frame. It appears to have been Peugeot’s top of the range bike at the time.
Cash on collection preferred, collection only from Camberley / Surrey ‘GU15’ Please no more requests for individual parts, collectively the parts are worth more than the bike, grab a great deal.

If that's Marco, he's changing his sale tactics. Usually just one picture and he is now Mark? I could use the Suntour cam brakes, but they'd just be going on another Sierra.

(23 pics and not one full DS, and most are wastes of electrons. <sigh emoji> But it is a nice bike and likely won't move, so may afford someone an opportunity?)
