HELP! stripped stem bolt
 

Hi im currently cleaning up a 1972 Puch....in the process i've managed to strip the bolt that tightens the cone. took a trip to the LBS and was no help, same thing at Lowes. can anyone verify for me the thread dimensions? i know its fairly close to 24TPI but using the thread gage at work says a 1mm (25.4tpi) would be a better fit ..can anyone help?!?

Possibly 8 x 1 or 7 x 1 mm?

sorry about cross posting in multiple sections, i wasnt sure what section would get a proper reply. as far as the metric treads, i've checked and they're not 8x1 or 7x1
