I've been speaking with a craigslist seller about a $50 1980s Schwinn World Tourist I'm thinking about buying as a donor, since my bike needs a new front wheel and saddle. It comes with a Brooks saddle, which he said was "low-end".
Here's a picture of the Brooks saddle (on the right). It looks weird. Can anybody identify it? Is it worth $50 and a free bike?
I've heard that some Schwinns had strangely sized wheels. Would the World Tourist be one of them? The seller said that he cleaned some rust off the rims, and that the hubs had some rust he hadn't bothered to clean. Is this a problem? Do only steel rims get rust?

I don't think the World Tourist would have odd size wheels, especially if it was made in Japan, and I think it was. Tell us what the tire sidewalls say.

If it's the vinyl saddle with diamond pattern stitching, that's worth nowhere near $50.00.
Yes, only steel rims get rust.
