mystery frame makers

Hello,
I wondered if anyone had any information on a small English frame builders of the late 1940's called Major Brothers. The were in Thornton Heath, nr.Croydon, just outside of London in the UK. I know they built lightweight touring/racing bikes and are mentioned on the Thornton Road clkub site but no other info is obtainable. My holy grail would be to find out what their head badge looked like as mine is badly faded.
Any info at all though would be make me very grateful.
Cheers,
Steve

Hello Steve,
Did anyone contact you about the Major Brothers head badge? I have just bought one of their bikes and the head badge is in good shape if you are still interested. If you have any more information about the bike etc I'd be keen to find out.
Regards
Cliff

Hi Cliff,
Haven't had much luck I'm afraid. There's this:
"Frank Rose, joined Thornton Road Club on 5 October 1948 ... By the mid-1950s, Frank Rose was challenging all of the records set by William Franks, and in 1956, he surpassed them...In addition, he rode 242.89 miles in a 12-hour time trial. He did all this on a locally made Major Brothers state-of-the-art all-steel bicycle".
There was another link I found about particular types of brakes used and that was it...
Not much...been occupied by other bikes but still wouldn't mind seeing a pic of the headbadge if you get round to posting one. Still looking for Major Bros bikes and if I get any more info I'll pass it on.
Regards,
Steve
