Mystery bicycle

https://rochester.craigslist.org/bik/1286845505.html

The front shield says Kingsway, the bike is called an Ocelot 501. I can't find ANY information on this bike anywhere. It says it was made by Giant.....

I was curious if you guys had any insight for this guy ...

I realize that I'm reviving a nearly eleven year old topic tonight, but I bought a "Kingsway" bicycle just this evening. Will post pictures of it tomorrow as it was dark out when I got home. Have likewise never heard of the brand. The "head badge" and all other markings seem to just be merely labels. It's a steel roadbike, that's for certain as the heft is unmistakable, but who, when, and where? Like I said, pictures, and even component specs forthcoming tomorrow as my web searches have turned up nothing.

Okay, in all it's dirty and rusty glory. The label on the down tube states it was made in "Republic of China" (Taiwan).
Front Derailleur: Simplex (Made in France) - Didn't see a model number.
Rear Derailleur: Suntour Honor 4532 (Possibly this 1973 introduced model: SunTour Honor derailleur (2600 2nd style))
Hubs: Shimano (no model code)

Sorry I'm not familiar with this brand. However, that is the 2nd version of the SunTour Honor which should put it right around the peak of the early 1970s bicycle boom. The serial number may provide a clue to the source and exact year. Also, check the rear, non-drive side dropout for a supplemental date
code, given the statement of Giant manufacture.

The pivot bolts on the brakes are cool.

what are your plans for this? It needs tones of work and lots of new stuff

I didn't have time to clean up that derailleur to see if it has a visible SN under all that grime as I was having to get things in the yard put away and covered up as it's supposed to begin raining tonight. Did get the serial off of the bike frame itself. SN# Axxxx73 - I'm thinking that perhaps the way to read the serial might be alpha-code per ten thousand produced, followed by the actual number in the following four digits, and the year of production in the final two digits. Mind I could be very wrong on that but, that specific derailleur being introduced to market in '73 and the bike frame having a "73" stamped in the serial seems unlikely that it would be mere coincidence.

Refurbish and flip eventually, have completed and sold four so far this year already. This is now one of a dozen bikes sitting around qued up to be worked on at present. I seemingly have all the time in the world as I've been unemployed now since before the thing which shall not be named was imported from wherever it didst originate from killing off all non-retail jobs. My area has had a spike in used bicycle demand, so once I've got one finished up and have it listed it's usually sold within the first week of posting.
