First bike rescue: Bridgestone 10 speed

I've checked out the Flickr Bridgestone group and their catalogues; I can't figure out what year or model it is. Appears to be a 70s or 80s commuter 10 speed? I am confused by the (seemingly) nice bars mixed with what appears to be mounts for lights and panniers.

Since it's semi-horizontals, I'm considering fixed-gearing it. Thinking about making it a lock-up-able grocery-getter, but I feel unqualified to judge what is best for this bike's future. Any thoughts about quality of parts or what to trash would be much appreciated!

Go for it. Looks to be a low end, mid seventies bike. At least you saved it.

Thanks. I just wanted confirmation it looked to be low-end before I trashed some parts and the like. Wasn't too sure if this was the right forum but didn't know where to put it.
