Eyelets separating from rim
 

Hello, I have a Campagnolo Victory Strada wheelset in excellent condition. However, on the rear wheel, I have noticed that several of the eyelets are separating from the rim. The front does not have this problem. What causes this? When do I need to be concerned about this? I note that I am a larger rider - 6'3", 215 pounds. Just to be safe, I am considering just finding another rim to rebuild the rear.

Hello Force you need to be concerned NOW! the eyelets is what supports the nipples. the reasons they are coming loose are many however as most our weight is carried by the back wheel and therefore it gets more abuse and it serviced ad trued more often it is not uncommon or them to start coming loose fisrt.

in fact front wheels vastly outlast rear wheels for the simple fact thay are not carring as much weight and that weight has a natural shock absorber (your elbows) they just last longer.

you may want to look closer you may have tiny cracks around the eyelets. are these tubolars?

Thanks for your response. Yes, these are tubulars. I do not see any cracks. The wheels are in otherwise great condition. I bought them used and they had been sitting unused for a while. Shouldn't the fact that they have double eyelets prevent this problem? Has anyone else experienced this issue with the Victory Stradas?

personally I never had Victory Stradas, the double eyelet really won't prevent it. the other eyelet is more between the inside and outside (the area where the tire goes being the outside). some one here offered you a set of wheels but I think they were Fiamme.

Force, have a look at the Victory Strada tubulars in the FS section. They may be what you were seeking.
