with that headbadge it's from 1983 or earlier, can't see if it's screwed or glued, but looks glued. Given the VGT RD and the cheap calipers, it's not a top model, but can't be bad either. I have no idea what he means by "Gyro" hubs, that's a new one.

I would start in the 81 catalogue, then go back

all of the early trek steel bikes were silver-soldered. Nothing's glued and screwed on any Trek...their aluminum and early carbon bikes were glued, but not screwed.

glued headbadge vs screwed headbadge?

The Sunshine (Sanshin) "Gyromaster" sealed bearing hub was used on some Trek models in the mid 80s.
