The Peugeot, like the cockroach...
Will outlive us.
Here's what I believe to be a U08 I picked up this year for $40. It was not sold as a rideable bike, however, in my poverty and lack of good decision making abilities I did put about a 175 miles or so on it before I managed to flip myself over the handlebars (that's for another thread).
It is what I believe to be a U08 from the 74-5 boom era, pretty good shape really (at least in terms of frame). I am thinking about perhaps restoring it, getting it back to safe riding conditions, and selling it, as it is far too small for me. I also want to get it back on the road for a reasonable price since I've seen these things for sale for $350 out here, ridiculous I know, but again a topic for another thread.
Sorry for the low-quality pics, the batteries were dying so I was rushing.

OK, pics now
It didn't like me uploading pics from within BF, so I made a facebook album:
https://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...2&l=a6b7f8e4e1
Also in there, my wife's Trek, and my first "real-ish" bike ever, a Trek 700 hybrid I rode literally into the ground, roughly 8000 miles on that badboy from ages 13-26, incorporating some time I didn't really ride which happened to coincide with my weight getting up to 220. I ride daily, and now weigh 160. Odd how that is.

Looks really clean. I think it's a '74. Saddle and front derailleur are not original. Fenders are a nice touch for a rider even if not original.
So do tell, how'd you flip over the handlebars? I hope you weren't hurt.

Yes, Peugeots could be compared to cucarachas! they made jillions of them and they are tough bikes to kill. They could be considered the VW Beetles of bikes. Theyre not around anymore (at least in the US) but tons of them of all vintages still come out of the woodwork every year!
