1967 Duomatic - tire width?

I recently got a metallic/orange copper CCM GT-101 Duomatic from my father. He bought it new circa 1968 in Canada.

It has an F&S Torpedo Duomatic hub with 46t/19t input. Hub serial letter indicates the hub was produced in 1967 (F&SJ). I overhauled it and rode it for a few weeks but the gearing is just too high for such a bike so I have ordered a 36t chrome sprocket and will keep the 19t cog so I have a low gear for hill climbing (1:1).

The rims are 28 x 1 1/2 F.13 Canada. Tires state 28 x1 1/2. The tires could use replacement and I want to get creme since I am have having the frame powdercoated in metallic copper. I know from Sheldon Brown's site that the this F.13 designation indicates the tires are 700c but I can't seem to find any source of info for what width of tire would be in mm. The chrome fenders leave little clearance on either side so I want to replicate the exact width of the original tires (which are Dunlop "Ranger" whitewalls made in Canada - 28x1 1/2 - inflate to 35-55 lbs psi)

Does anybody hear know the width of these original tires in mm?

Cheers,

FastEddy

PS.
The serial number on the bike starts with K
