Marinoni question help please!
 

Have a Marinoni question: I have a 56 cm with: Columbus tubing (sticker is torn so ???), one h20 braze-on, No pump mount braze-on? Clean looking lugs ( the steer tube lugs have a spade design), chrome chainstay, chromed drop-outs but they are not campy or any other I recognize...They are Technoch or something like that....There are drop-out adjustment screws..Chrome fork- no fork crown or panographing...Kinda generic looking.. Frame has a neat color fade..all decals in place...appears to be some sort of entry-level road bike as it has Shimano 105 cranks, front and rear derailleurs ( 6 speed indexed).Generic wheelset...My question is this: Did Marinoni make "entry-level" framesets? I thought he did only customs and higher end stuff? Any guess on year?

AFAIK, Marinoni frames of that vintage (1980s) had an "M" on the fork crown and either "Marinoni" or an "M" on the seat stay caps. The bottom bracket shell may or may not have a "M" cut out.

I have been lucky enough to own four Marinoni road bicycles ranging in vintage from 1976 to the mid or even late eighties. All had Columbus tubing and Campagnolo drops. Marinoni built quality bikes and still does. I have never seen a lower end Marinoni but I have not seen them all. Have a look at the pictures...

Marinoni bikes sported an assortment of pantographs ranging from the M to the Name to the Canadian Maple Leaf or the Quebec Fleur-de-lie. You could even ask to have your name pantographed into the bicycle if you wished.

Very nice bicycles and my Quebec model is one of may best ever bicycles...

Marinoni alsooffered frames using Tretubi SL, Cromor and Aelle, It may be one of these. Check for the helical ridges inside the bottom of the fork's steerer tube. If you don't have them, it's not full SL or better.

I've never seen a vintage Marinoni that didn't have Campagnolo drops.

Marinoni also used Gipiemme dropouts, my 1986 Marinoni has them.

Hi,
It's a 1987 sold to our agent in U.S.A. in Dec l986. The size is 55cm. c.
to c. built with Columbus S.L. for the main triangle and the rest of the
bike with Columbus Matrix. Original colour was white and lignt blue.

I've seen 80's models with all manner of shimano components. 600 tricolor with slx tubing for example

There you go, Tretubi SL, as previously suggested. I've seen literally dozens of them.
