Giant Perigee mid 80's? silver of black wheelset??
I am "stuck" riding my Giant Perigee for at least another year which is fine with me. It is heavy but can't complain as it rides great and shifts fine with 8 speed 105 brifters. Need to get a new wheelset soon - probably Open Pro's or something similar - black or silver? anybody ID year of frame?

Frame and decals look more like the 1990s to me. Here is a pic of my 1995 Giant Kronos, which is one step up from the Perigee. My Kronos was the last year of the lugged frame, and the first year of brifters. I am replacing my 2005 Trek 1000 with this Giant. While the Giant is heavier, I like everything else about it versus the Trek.
I like the silver rims on mine. It came stock with silver rims, although I changed them out for a nicer set I had in the shop.
I would guess 1995 which is the last year for a lugged frame on the Perigee as well, go to bikepedia and you will probably find it. A lot of components are date coded, so if you have anything you think is original (stem?) you can look up the code on vintage trek site.

thanks for the reply Thrifty Bill I will try bikepedia - Very nice Kronos I really like the bar tape. I don't see a reason to "upgrade" mine either as it can run with the new bikes just fine.

Questions for the OP
Are you up to building wheels?
What sort of riding are you doing?
Is your priority price, performance, or something else?
p.s. - The bike looks well cared for.
If you've already decided on the wheelset, and are asking which color looks better, I try to always have the rim color match the stem and seat post.

No wheel building for me. I commute and do a mix of solo and spirited group rides on this bike. I like the advice on rim color matching stem and seatpost like the old belt and shoes thing my mom used to tell me.
Hmm thinking about going to a threadless adaptor and could go all black then..
