Frejus info?

I'm eying a frejus but have no clue what it is as it's been repainted rather badly.

Serial number is 46919
Campy gran sport derailleurs
l. Magistroni Senior marked BB
non-integral seat post binder clamp
campy high flange hubs
universal extra brakes
simplex cogs with what looks like a cottered frejus marked crank arm

anyone have an opinion about the bike or know what it is?

i'm assuming it's probably at least mid range given my reading on gran sport points to it being campy's high end at one point.

Sounds like 50s: either a step down from the top, or a top model but earlier than the Campagnolo crank of '58 I believe.

I'm watching that one too on ebay. No worries though, just looking.

I'd date it from 1954-1957 based on what I can see, I think the seller has mis-dated it. If you get it, check the lock nuts on the hubs to get a date stamp.

I don't know what is below that crappy repaint, but based on the components (Campy's top end at the time) and the oiler port on the head tube, I'd say it is a top end model. A great deal would be $400, a good deal would be $600 and a fair deal would be $800.

Good luck.

yeah, if i go for it, it's definitely a full blown clean up job. i don't think i can live with the repaint. my guess is i won't actually end up getting it, just dumped a bunch of money into one of my many other addictions. until i get all the student loans paid off can only support one or two habits at a time haha.

here's hoping though. thanks for the info.
