Holdsworth anominy

I just signed up to our forum after reading a lot of your interesting an useful information on classic light weight racers. Subsequently I went a bit crazy and have brought 3 bikes. I picked up the first one today. It seems to be a holdsworth equipe but doesn't match any of the description or specs / photos. Is orange with kingfisher blue panels with holdsworth wriiten in white on two of the tubes.. the cross bar has the added equipe written on it. It's got a rear sunshine hub, a frount campagnolo hub on weinmann rims. The front derailleur is a campagnolo neuvo record, the rear is a shimano crane. It has a sugino mighty competition chainset, a cinelli stem and bars, I can't make out the saddle. I also has dura ace breaks and berthet lyotard (hyistophe) pedals with staps that say Holdsworth and campagnolo in orange on blue (nice touch).. the frame is all good apart from a few bits of rust here and there and wear to the stickers.. I think the bottom bracket has gone thou.. does any one know what type of bottom bracket it takes? or the tubing they used? .. I paid £120 for it.. is that a good price? I'm also waiting to pick up a red LE JEUNE (£60) with simplex gears and a Benotto (£90) (I think it's a 3000 from what I can make out).. how am I doing? (-;

The fellow who runs or did run the site is Norman Killgariff. If you can figure out how to contact him, he has a Holdsworth serial number database. He should be able to tell you what model, when built, who built it and where. The trick is figuring out how to contact the man.

I did hook up with Norman on-line years ago regarding an old Holdsworth Equipe. He was very helpful and precise. Thanks again since his expertise put an arrogant pr**k in his place. Also, and this is important to me and my son, if you can figure out how to contact the gentleman, please let me know. We would like his advice regarding what we think to be a very nice Geoffery Butler.

Good score on the bikes but without pics it did,nt happen !

ps: Holdsworth has always been my FAV bike, only NEW bike I ever had ! was orange with blue panels and white lettering too,IIRC was a 1970 professional,full Zeus group,wish I still had it ! plz post pics of your s!

norman doesn't want contacting anymore i beleive. he has removed his contact link.
the website is good though, i have a nuovo reocrd and am rtying vhard to get the super mistral re-painted!

true, Norman has removed himself from the job of direct contact with the public, you can benefit from his site, but can't contact him for advice or serial number sleuthing. One of our BF C&V members (Skip Magnusson) was compiling his own database of Holdsworth serial numbers, but he's been inactive here for a while.
If you're in the UK: Mr. Hilary Stone has said that Argos (in Bristol, I think) offer a very good paint job for the money.

i think it's a shame that norman doesn't seem to want anyone else to see the serial numbers.
i made contact about a frame 5 years ago, and then it came into my possesion this year. i replied to his original email from that time and he told me in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want any contact regarding numbers or id of frames!

Well perhaps you ought to join the Veteran-Cycle club who has an excellent Holdsworth marque enthusiast who probably knows as much as Norman Kilgariff - sub is only £20 a year and there are plenty of benefits see http://www.v-cc.org.uk/ The website is not up to much but there's plenty of knowledgeable members and some good magazines...
