Very pretty.
But I'll see you hubs and raise you a first-gen Campy pedal.

Hmmm.. I suspect it'a one of those "juy" components from the a few decades ago that mysteriously (to me) attracts such high bids. I love French stuff, but I could never figure out these overpriced components from Simplex. I still cant figure out why a derailleur like the Super LJ constantly attract such high prices too. Personally, I think French components are lovely, but nowhere near approaches the quality and performance and reliability of high line Japanese and Italian components.....yet I ride an all French bike??? I must be mad!

last time I sold some parts, I really considered polishing a couple of them. I just couldn't bring myself to do it though. Really wonder about collectors that buy highly polished parts when they never were highly polished from the factory.

This whole matter is sickening, and a pet gripe: given the price that parts like Simplex or Campagnolo fetch, the kiddies over here in Europe have been tearing bikes apart for over 15 years now just to make a quick kill, the rest of the bike get's trashed. Think of it, you pay 15-25 euros for a beater or nice bike, you take a cutter to the spokes, a bit of metal polish and washing up liquid, and hey presto, 1200 + bucks. Because used simplex hubs don't just turn up in a drawer, you cut them out of a perfectly good wheelset, which comes from a perfectly good bike. Bike pillage.
