Name your source!
I've been searching the threads for a good source (reliable company, good sales, fast and low shipping) for a Brooks saddle. The search has revealed places like:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ http://www.wallbike.com/ http://www.sjscycles.co.uk Are there any other sites out there that you guys would recommend checking out? Thanks. |
Wiggle is better than the others for postage, which makes them cheaper overall for 1-2 saddles, or 1 saddle and a couple of cheap items to make the price up to the "no postage" level. I bought 3 from ChainReactionCycles (not at the same time) before I worked that out. CRC have excellent and competitive pricing, but you have to place a bigger order to get free postage from them.

SJS cycles is best when the Exchange Rate for Dollars to Pounds is most favorable. Read: the price in $$$ fluctuates quite a bit.
I just use google product search. |
I've bought from both Wallbike and SJS. Both have superior service... and I mean that sincerely!
|
I've used wiggle and ChainReaction and both have provided great service. Wiggle sent me a saddle in 4 days which thought was pretty good for a parcel from the UK to Australia...quicker than sending a parcel from one side of Sydney to the other.
Wiggle have an option to buy from them in dollars...not sure how that would work for you in the USA, but may be worth exploring too. Actually, I haven't heard anything bad about any of the suppliers mentioned. |
I really like SJS the shipping form them has been faster and usually less than from some places here in the U.S.
|
Nashbar, frequently on sale at drastically reduced prices.
|
Universal Cycles isn't too bad. Order it with something else and you can probably get 15% off with their vip15 coupon. S'where I got mine from.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll be sure to look into them all! So far wiggle seems a bit disappointing. No sprung saddles?
|
Yikes! Delivery to Chicago from SJS Cylcles? $50!
|
I decided to go with Wallingford for their guarantee. Well, the saddle came today and it was the wrong one! What a bummer. I was so excited to put in on and ride around, even though it soo cold and windy today in Chicago. They're out of stock of the saddle I wanted so my last hope is SJS. UNLESS any of you know a place with recently discontinued saddles laying around. I got the Brooks B66 S Universal Black (Pebbled leather, vent holes, silver accents), what I want is the B66 S Champion Black (Smooth leather, no vents, copper accents).
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk//images/p...dle1898_xl.jpg It's a old model so I can only find them at SJS. Have you seen them anywhere else? |
I bought the saddle from SJS a few days ago. For those who have purchased saddles from overseas, how long do they usually take to arrive?
|
Wiggle all the way. Free shipping after a certain amount, fast delivery, and great customer service.
|
Wiggle didn't have any sprung saddles. Lame!
|
I ordered fron Wallingford in Ferbruary and got Mardi Gras beads free with my order. I'm willing to pay a little more to deal with nice people like them.
|
wasn't the replacement for the B66 S champion the Champion Flyer Special S ?
http://www.wallbike.com/jpgs/flyerspecialside.jpg if so wallbike has it. Did you call and talk to Bill Laine? Marty |

eBay.

You can use a clamp from your LBS to mount that saddle. You don't have to have a micro adjust post?,,,,BD

The one in the pic up there? It sure looks like a single rail to me?,,,,BD
Or this might work? Sounds like it from the description? http://www.bikeman.com/ST5303.html?u...ign=GoogleBase |
Wiggle has been very good to me, but yes, very limited selection. Lightning shipping though.
|
Hmm, maybe I'm confused. All I know is that the saddle recommended doesn't work with what I currently have unless I buy a couple new parts.
|
Oh yeah, I remember that I also dismissed the new saddle because of the black coils. My bike has chrome and copper details and I wanted old Champion S because it featured both as well.
|
You can mount a double rail saddle to a micro adjust post by using a seat sandwich.
http://inlinethumb28.webshots.com/43...600x600Q85.jpg The Champion Flyer is not a replacement for the B66. The Champion Flyer is a B17 with springs. The B66 is a wide saddle for upright riding. The B67 is a B66 with single rails. The B68 has single rails and no springs. All of this is made clear on the Wallingford site. |
