Need some help

I recently picked up a peugeot while on my way back from the midwest for the good price of $50, from what ive read so far my money is well spent.

As far as i can tell i believe it to be a ph10 or 8 not fully stock but close, and built between '82 and '85 based on the stripes and logo. but seeing as how i am not well versed in road bikes (older ones to say the least) i figured that i would ask for the help of some resident experts.

heres a list of the equipment:

Shimano gears
Carbolite 103 frame
Weinmann breaks (type 730) and levers
Lyotar pedals
S France Cranks
Maillard hubs
Rigida Chromage- Superchromix rims
Swallow Nylon VC3 Challenge Touring tires
Shimano Derailleurs and cassett
Sachs Huret "spoke guard"

i realize some of my terminology may be confusing if not correct so please feel free to question me as to what i mean.

Steel rims, steel pedals, turkey levers, nutted rear axle, kickstand, high ten steel frame tubing (Carbolite 103) and stem shifters = near the bottom of the product line bike. But its a really clean one!!

It appears to be a 1985 model P6.

Though a lower level Pug, they are a nice riding bike though heavy. Keep it maintained and it will last forever. I sold one like it recently in comparable condition and had no problem getting $150 for it!

Another thing, i know some may think that its not worth the money, what would be some modern additions that i could swap into it as replacements, im thinking of turning this into a long term project bike where over time i can slowly add/ take off things. any suggestions?

Sounds like you've answered your own question and have a pretty clear vision. Go for it.

i know its been a while but any help would be greatly appreciated, if found that the sizing of the seatpost on the carbolite frames is an irregular size and am having trouble finding a replacement or alternative so i can get a decent saddle? would anyone familiar with these bikes know of any solutions or have any suggestions. thank you in advance for any help rendered, ive hit a wall as none of the shops around me know where i would be able to find something like this.
