identifying super record front derailleur
I am looking to replace a broken front derailleur on a 1977 Marinoni Special. As far as I can tell, everything on the bike is Super Record or Record. However, when I look on ebay the pictures of the Nuevo Record appear to be an exact match to the existing front derailleur. The rear derailleur is a patent 76, so I assume the front is similar (the bike is a '77). Can anybody tell me what distinguishes a Super Record front derailleur of that era? Were they identical to the Nuevo Record? Thanks!

The 1976 Campagnolo catalog No 17 shows the front changer part number for both the Super Record group and the Nuovo Record group as 1052/1.

Nuevo is Spanish.

I've always been under the impression that the Super Record unit was identical to the Nuovo Record unit with the exception of black anodized arms. The one on my Gianni Motta is definitely Super Record and has black anodized arms.
This link seems to back me up but I would not be surprised if earlier years just used the Nuovo Record unit(just like the outer plate on the rear changed over the years): http://www.campyonly.com/tipstrivia.html |
