Merckx Fork Question

I came across an early 90's Merckx Corsa Extra recently that had Campagnolo dropouts in the rear while the fork had Merckx dropouts, and I was wondering if this was a normal thing or if it indicated that the fork was not original to that particular frame. Thanks for any info!

Most of the Merckx's I've come across will have the serial number on the fork steerer, taped there on a piece of paper.

The two 80's Merckx's at my MI home have Campagnolo front drop outs. The newest I have is an 85, though.

+1^
All my '90s Merckx bikes have front and rear "Eddy Merckx" dropouts while my earlier ones are as OFG stated. Also, none have a mix of drop outs, so I would say the fork is not original to the frame. Got any Pics?

John... Should that serial number correspond somehow to the serial number on the frame?

This bike is on eBay and I've decided to pass on it. If the fork is not original, there must be a reason and it's a foreign seller so I don't want to mess with it. Here's the link....
