Maruishi Road Ace 202 Opinions????
hey theres a Maruishi Road Ace 202. for sale locally for dirt cheap. i dont know anything about these things. are they any good? what should the components be? i havent found really any info online about them. its black i believe mid late 80s.
looks to be in decent shape. alloy wheels etc. havent had a chance to look at it as its quite a drive to get it and would like ot have a good idea what im looking at before i go. but it looks like a decent bike. |
Some members here are more familiar than I with the brand. Mariushi was more popular in some regions of the US and Canada, all but unheard of in others. I only started reading about them here other than a few tourers I spotted some 20 years ago,
They made bikes for some other companies, they manufactured themslves. A HUGE factory. I saw not long ago a Road bike, Tange tubing. it was hi-end. T-mar or somebody may ID the bike. The serial # should help. For now I would say that if it's Tange #2 or #1 it's certainly worth a look. In anycase try to find -out that much. Along with that, the crank etc. helps too. |
Not much online info on Maruishi. With that 202 model number that would be on the lower end of the totem pole, but if for a dirt cheap price and with alloy wheels probably a good buy. The components are likely a mix of lower to mid-range Shimano and Dia-Compe. Dates on the components looked up at vintage-trek.com should point to a year of the bike. I'm guessing a 1970's or very early 1980's one. Maruishi's aren't too common and they pop up here occasionally. I don't think a serial number database has been attempted for this marque.
