looking for brakes for '80 Raleigh Comp GS

Hi, the old Weinmann 605's on my '80 Raleigh Competition GS are not what they once were. I'm looking for replacements or upgrades, preferably upgrades. Something that will fit frame of that era (Reynolds 531 3 tubes butted). Suggested sources?

Hello personally if I was going to upgrade brakes I would look around ebay for some nice looking Campi record or maybe some Dia Compe.
are you brakes short reach and recessed?

What do you mean they're not what they once were? Are you saying they don't work as well as they originally did? Changing the shoes will take care of that. Kool Stop!

If it were me, and I wish I had one of those frames, there is no question in my mind that I would get a pair of Campagnolo Record brakes and levers - no question in my mind, whatsoever.

I briefly owned a raleigh comp GS, and those brakes were HORRENDOUS. If memory serves, and it might not, I had to get the campy long reach brakes (which I didn't do because of cost). I ended up using a set of dia-compe "g" brakes, and those worked far better.

Yeah, I am using the 605's on my Raleigh and even with Kool stop pads they aren't great performers.
