Cure for a flat/flared Brooks B17
 

Ok, I bought a used honey B17 about a year ago, it's only a couple of years old. Before I ever mounted it my wife bought a new B17 for me so this one has been sitting idle ever since. Now I need some cash so I want to list it on EBay or CL but it seems to flatten/flare when I firmly press down on it.

Is this something I can use the adjustment for to increase the tension? I wanted to ask before I goof anything up. I have seen where some people punch a few holes and lace up the bottom, I could do that too but I wonder what that would do to the resale value.

I've never tried adjusting a Brooks saddle so I'm a bit paranoid :-)

Looks like I need to "tension" it using the adjustment. I'll give it a whirl this evening.

If you are going to sell it, leave it alone and let the new owner customize it to his or her liking. Just give an honest description and take some pictures. If you decide to do the tension don't do to much tension... you never know, the next owner might like it loose.

VERY Good point, in that case the flaring might actually be a selling point to some :-) Instead of tensioning it I think I'll list it tonight instead.
