I started with the bare frame, which was in original paint and had the Barcelona number code decal still on the head-tube. I had been hording a lot of the parts as I was looking for a late 70's/early 80's Specialissima for a long time. The guy who sold me the frame included the shift levers and milled levers, which was a nice gesture.

It's a great riding bike and very light for the vintage.

That Gefsco's front fork trail and rake is unbelievable.

yeah it really is.
i like high trail bikes but i think that one is a little over the top.
i could tell when i was looking at it that it was a short rake fork but i didn't think it was that short...got it off ebay when the aussie dollar was really low...the ride is interesting.
it's taken apart now because i needed the parts to put on the newly acquired davidson. i've got most the parts to do a vintage build on the gefsco so i might do that eventually. it could use some new paint too.
under the thick paint lies a pretty nice frame.

So, now that we have four full pages of posts of "high end bikes", please tell me what defines a "high end bike"?

Canadian high ender...

My early eighties Gardin Special is a cut above many bicycles that I have stumbled across. I spent quite a bit of time comparing this bike's ride quality to that of an early eighties Tomassini that came my way this Spring. The jury is still out.

Sorry! Posted a rare, expensive hand-built quarter century old bike, but it was deemed not high end.

I guess some would not consider any Peugeot a high end bike, but it's not low-end either. I rebuilt this one and sold it a couple of months ago. Too small for me so I'm not kicking myself too hard.

More pics of the Davidson! I'm in Seattle and had a road frame built by Bill back in 2003 - their attention to detail is phenomenal, and the ride is spot-on, too. Legendary since 1972...

Not a lot of Japanese love here. Fuji "Design Series", 1986 with Ishiwata 019E tubing.

Pretty hard to top a 3Rensho, as far as Japanese bikes go.

Any bike that's ridden is a worthy bike ... I'd be hesitant to post my favorite bike on this thread!

See, that's why I asked for someone to define a "high end bike". What makes a bike, "high end"?

"High-end" is subjective, but for the purpose of this thread, Nick defines it as:
