Paramount on EBAY
I was watching this item:
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h3.../paramount.jpg on EBAY and it just ended. Bids went up to $986.00, it did not meet the reserve. I don't know much about Paramounts. Would that be worth over $1000.00, frame only? It sure was a beauty. |
I was watching that one too. It sure is a beautiful frame, I wish I knew the story, especially if the modification was done by Schwinn.
|
There was much discussion of this frame over on the Classic Rendezvous list.

Are those bottle cage bosses on the bottom of the down tube, or are they for something else?
|
I've been eying this paramount tandem: http://albany.craigslist.org/bik/1414978023.html
One of you should buy it and end my hand wringing. |

Looks like. Touring bikes used em like that sometimes, for another bottle. |
Seller bought the already-modified frame as a rough hulk for $300 in September (it was black), then refinished it. He did the same with a P-14 Paramount Track which was repainted teal.
I wouldn't mind these gaudy (just look at the thickness of that clear coat) restorations if it weren't for those god-awful downtube decals. You'd think that he'd make an effort to produce them correctly, but what can you expect from a high-zoot flipper? One of the fellows on the CR list pointed out an amusing fact regarding the modifications: Who would put a braze-on FD mount, short drops, rack, rear eyelets, and what looks to be recessed brake mounting on a P-13? There won't be any fender clearance, and there aren't any front eyelets. -Kurt |

Many purpose built touring bikes have the third bottle mount under the down tube. It's usually used to carry the fuel bottle for a camp stove.

It's been relisted with a buy it now price of $2500.00:eek:
