Fender recommendation
 

Hey all,
I have a '72 Schwinn Super Sport that I'm looking to put fenders on. I want something that fits the vintage look of the bike and am hoping that the members of this forum can help me with some recommendations. I'm attaching a picture so you know what you're dealing with. Thanks

I think Berthoud stainless fenders would look good on that bike.

Those would look nice. Or the VO alternative if you want to save some cash. If you want to go the budget route, SKS plastic fenders would be OK. They look essentially the same as they have for years, but aesthetically I think they'd be a fairly large step down from the alu choices.

I find that aluminum fenders are hard to live with. They're just too delicate. A scratch can be polished out, but then I have to repolish both fenders to match. That never fails to get black stuff on my yellow paint. I haven't dented mine yet, but it would be easy to do.

hammered aluminum fenders hide small dents and scratches better...but they are expensive.

I have a few sets of mid seventies alloy fenders and mounting hardware tucked away. They are sturdy alloy and not very heavy. The ends are capped with plastic protectors that add to, rather than detract from their vintage appeal. I can part with a set or two if something like this is of interest. I might add that I run the fenders with both 700c and 27" wheels.
