Fender recommendation
Hey all,
I have a '72 Schwinn Super Sport that I'm looking to put fenders on. I want something that fits the vintage look of the bike and am hoping that the members of this forum can help me with some recommendations. I'm attaching a picture so you know what you're dealing with. Thanks http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._1966743_n.jpg |
I think Berthoud stainless fenders would look good on that bike.

I find that aluminum fenders are hard to live with. They're just too delicate. A scratch can be polished out, but then I have to repolish both fenders to match. That never fails to get black stuff on my yellow paint. I haven't dented mine yet, but it would be easy to do.

hammered aluminum fenders hide small dents and scratches better...but they are expensive.

Original seventies alloy fenders...

I have a few sets of mid seventies alloy fenders and mounting hardware tucked away. They are sturdy alloy and not very heavy. The ends are capped with plastic protectors that add to, rather than detract from their vintage appeal. I can part with a set or two if something like this is of interest. I might add that I run the fenders with both 700c and 27" wheels.
