Can you identify this bianchi?
 

I found this bike on a local classified site, and was wondering if anyone can identify it from this photo. The ad, as always, has no information except that all the parts are original and it is in good condition. I wish they would at least list the size of the frame! Judging by the length of the headtube it would be about my size (58-60 cm).

Anyway, any ideas? Should I try to pick up this bike? They want 100 euros for it....

I would jump on that one very quickly, at that price. It appears to be a late 1970s model, possibly a Rekord 748, based on what appears to be Universal brake levers. If so, derailleurs would be Campagnolo Gran Sport and crankset will be Gipiemme as opposed to Nuovo Record, but pics aren't good enough to make a postive identification.

check that the fork's OK

Does that involve just eyeballing it to make sure it is not bent?

Also look for cracks in the paint on the leading and trailing edges of the fork tubes. Check the downtube while you're at it.
The photo makes it look like the fork's been pushed back, but that may be an illusion.

Look to see if the center-line of the head tube runs parallel to the CL of the forks. You can use a string to assist the eyeball if you wish. Also, look to see if the wheel rim sits in the middle of the fork blades, splitting the difference evenly. Finally, look for cracked paint on the forks and at the lugs on the head tube.

All that said, the forks look OK in the picture. Of course, I need hearing aids.
