Fuji Folder?
Greetings!
I acquired a Fuji Folder bicycle frame this morning. Is there a method to determine the date of manufacture? Also, was there a connection between Fuji and Marlboro cigarettes? There is a Marlboro decal on the front of the frame. Thanks! Don |
I think you could save Marlboro coupons or carton tabs and redeem them for non-cancerous items like jackets, hats and other stuff

I don't know anything about it, but you might post it over in the Folding Bikes forum. Most folding bikes are not vintage, and even though some are, there's not much interest in folding bikes in this forum.
To determine date, look on the derailleurs etc for date codes, and then look at this. Good luck! |
Fuji manufactured a lot of promotional bicycles for various companies. For the serial number go to the Cassic Fuji site or http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...umber+database

If the bike still has the original components on it you can check for the Shimano codes.
Yes the bike was a Marlboro promotional item, as odd as it seems. I bought mine used about 10 years ago and it was all original with the Shimano 15 speed drive train and the heavy steel components. The frame itself is all thats left of the original bike and for a folder it does a good job. It now sports a modern Deore drive train and narrow 26" wheels. It has worked fabulously for both commuting on trains where a non folding bike was not allowed and on vacations when traveling by car and space is limited. The first picture shows it folded in the trunk of a Camry with a 62cm Fuji S-10-S below it. While the road bike had to be completely dismantled to fit, the folder just goes right in. |
I remember that promo. I went for the inflatable kayak instead of the bike, I should have taken the bike
