+1 I don't appreciate the aesthetic, but no real harm has been done to the bike. The owner seems to have put some money into it and is riding it at least, though judging by the way it's locked, maybe not for long.

Eventually the owner will get tired of riding it fixed and will restore it, or he'll sell it, and maybe the next owner will. Either way, I'll bet that eventually it will find its way back to a condition we can all be proud of. Unless someone takes a hacksaw to it. *Shiver*

I always ride my bike to the gym and it never fails to surprise me how empty the bike rack it. I always think it's funny how many people ride in a car to go exercise.

what would you assume, that the owner is a 'hipster ******' or an actual track rider? or both?
i would assume you are jealous you didnt find that ciocc on CL before you saw it locked outside your gym first...

What I want to see are track bikes converted to geared bikes, with a derailleur hanger riveted on, brake holes drilled in the fork and rear bridge, cable guides and shifter bosses brazed on...you geared bike zealots really need to step up your game a bit.

91mf, agreed these threads don't do much for me either. Who knows why I read through them, but that's not why I posted. Is that your Ciocc w/ the disc? It rocks, and I am looking for a disc for my oldest son's Pinarello Pista he just traded for at a local cyclocross race a couple of weeks ago.

I don't like the cowhorn bars, threadless stem, aero wheels, skinny seat, black chainring and white chain, but otherwise I'm OK with it. The pedals look nice.

It's an old frame that's still on the road. I don't see a problem. Ciocc made some decent frames but their tools, not art.

Is this in reference to the back wheel? Is it vintage? I thought that aero stuff was all recent. I would be curious to know how far back that goes.

hey, it could happen! he obviously has to have some bike knowledge, and I don't know about where you live, but I can see the fixie fad disappearing around here. Sure, I'm seeing more of the cheap, premade fixies, but the guys who I used to see doing tricks, riding real track bikes and C&V conversions are almost completely gone.

put a front brake on that thing before you need to do a panic stop and ruin a nice vintage bike.

I don't have any problems with fixed gear conversions where the frame isn't modified. I am annoyed by conversions that involve hacksaws, but it's the owner's property and it really isn't my business. I will ridicule people who hacksaw vintage frames, particularly if their motive is to flip the bike. I saw a really nice looking Raleigh fixed gear in the bike rack at school the other day. I'm sure there is some collector out there that would love to have that frame.
