Mafac/ Gitane Interclub Questions

I have been slowly working on my cheapo single speed project for a while. I just got it back together and I have some issues trying to get the brakes together.

What else is needed on the brake levers? Is there something to hold the cable straight where it comes out of the handle?

Where can I get decent metal cable clamps for the top tube?

First things first... it looks like your fork is bent.

Or just a stepped ferrule for a cable housing stop. The Mafac hoods have become expensive.

I bought the NOS Mafac hoods from a LBS specializing in vintage bikes for $25. Ouch.

+1, or is it the frame? Perhaps --I hope-- it is just the camera angle. Still, I'd look closely before investing much in it.

+1, check the fork first, if it's not bent backward at the base, consider losing the mafac levers and using something easier to find hoods for: Weinmann or DiaCompe if you want vintage, Tektro (AKA Cane Creek) if you want really comfortable but modern and with aero routing. I can send you 3 cable clips in passable condition for the cost of postage, but wouldn't even waste that much on the bike if the fork is bad.
and the handlebars need straightening ;)
