KHS model ...???
Hi there. Any info on what model this is? Im wondering what kind of tubing.
Are KHSs any good? I see em around. All I know about this one is its got shimano 600. Doent sound too bad to me. Thanks http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...ouglas/KHS.jpg |
it has Shimano 600 rear derailluer yes but what are the other parts? the crank, shifters, brakes? I can't tell from the pic but what is written on the little black sticker at the top of the seattube? it looks like a nice bike from here. a close up the dropouts and the BB might be more helpful to others to better identify it

Sorry seller said it has 600 components but now that you mention it, the derailer is all that appears to be 600...

It appears to be aearly to mid 1980s model that has been upgraded with a new rear derailleur. Normally this would be part of an index upgrade but the shift kevers appear to be friction models. It's hard to tell from the picture but it is possible that some the other components are early 1980s 600EX.
As suggestred you need to obtain particulars on the other major components and the tubing decal. KHS offered a full range of bicycles from entry level to professional level racers. They were a reutable brand offering good value at the various price polints. Unless the asking price is outrageous, it would be worth a closer look. |
He's asking $130 obo... which is low for something decent here in southern california
I'll try again to get intouch with him. Thanks |
Buy it ! Or at at least ... Just buy it. The crank is an '83 600, some other stuff, not sure. The braker lever are perfectly funtional Diacomps, the cals. meybe too. The bike's an 83-85, a GOOD ONE. As some said.. good brand.. price points. It's what the Co. did, even to the point of mixin' stuff, keeping the price down. A Cal. based Co. that had more Kiddie & MBs than anything. Their Road Bikes were VG. The tubing in the models I saw from the '80s and more so the '90s was better than avg... ALWAYS as was the frame build quailty. For instance they sold Reynolds 853 bikes with a mixed group for $800. And were rated by reviews extremely well price @ perf. & value. I test rode later ones for what thats' worth.
I understand that you live in S. Cal., the bik 'll vanish. Looks like a 56cm, 700 wheels LOW priced. |
for $130 I may take it and ask later. if that is good price for your area then if you don't loke you can really clean it up. get a bottle & cage at wally mart for $8 and sell it for 150

I had a KHS awhile back that had a Tange 900 tube sticker and was a nice bike. I am in the same market and a ready to ride bike at that price would not last long.
