A few questions for my latest build.

For the most part, I have been doing single speed conversions and a little geared stuff on the side. I have a SLT 12.2 that is near completion. My first questions is in regards to the derailers. Where should the rear hang and where should he front sit on the st? I have setup a couple, but had help from a mechanic friend of mine. I am also wondering about the chain. I have a new Z chain awaiting install at some point and never setup a geared chain before. How many links and so fourth should I take out? I am sure there is a search for this, but I will admit I am lazy and tired at the moment. Its time for bed. The bike features a Shimano 600 group fyi. Thanks in advance.

Rear derailleurs have minimal hang adjustment. "D' screws can be tweaked but, in general, the body should be 'open' in regards to being parralell with the chainstay. FD's should be a nickles width above the big chainring.

OK, thanks, I will check it out again. There is a little tab on the rear derailer, on the back of it. Should it go under the droupout for the derailer thread? Do you get what I am talking about? It's like a little metal tab that seems like it could curve with the shape of the hanger.

Not really sure what tab you mean. Any chance of a photo?
