I was going to the local general store just as a middle aged gent in in full riding kit stopped in on this. He didn't have a lock, so he took it into the semi-covered area where they store stuff like potting soil and vegetable starters. I followed him in and spoke to him briefly about it; he had just gotten it from his father in law and didn't know anything about it, so I told him what I could: bonded frame made from mag-alu anodized tubes; built up with 600 Tri-Color, unusual and of note to vintage bike nerds. I gave him an info card on the local metric century group ride and he sounded interested. Maybe he'll show up on it.

Well, imagine how I felt when my friend sent me an email with a link to a flickr account. She said "Isn't this your bike?" Sure enough someone in Portland saw my bike parked (I was inside the restaurant ordering food) and snapped a photo. One of the people who comment in the comment section of this person's flickr photo of my Hardrock Ultra was none other than @adventurepdx. I had gone on a very long bike adventure that day from my town, to Portland, all around and it was time for dinner. Here's the photo:

At our local library, a nice lavender Bertoni Corsa Mondiale, mid-80's, judging by the 600EX gruppo. (The fattie C-dale behind it doesn't count, because it's mine.)

I mentioned this bike in another post a few days but didn't realize I had pics of it. When I was stranded in Al Udeid Air Base back Sept of 2010 I saw the poor old Hercules. Odds are I could have simply gotten a pump aired up the tires and started riding it but I never got up the nerve. I thought about a bringing it home too but in the end our plans changed and we had to fly home commercial air from Calif back to N.J.
IIRC it was in a British berthing area so it could have been there for years.

That looks so much like a Vitus 979 — even the dimple on the head tube — same. Was this frame really a Vitus in different livery?

Seen leaning against a warehouse in my old neighborhood, at a time when I had no more space in the basement and boxed bikes in the attic.

Spotted in the window of a retail storefront on Fifth Avenue. Let's see: low end Schwinn, pie plate, reflectors, stem shifters, turkey levers, steel rims- probably weighs about 30lbs. Can't say I'm terribly impressed

At the local health food store, vintage Schwinn World Sport with an interesting cockpit configuration.
No doubt owned by one of our many local hobo/triathlete/cat-ladies
