Saw these three at the river last night.
Bridgestone XO-1 in pretty nice shape.

Does anyone remember the short-lived Formula bike? This was a ploy by the bike industry to follow up with a new trend after freestyle began to fade in the late '80s. I have not seen one of these bikes in 20+ years and here's one in use, a Schwinn Qualifier. Amazing!

Centurion Le Mans RS in original condition. The young guy said he bought it cheap years ago and it has lost parts over the years being parked on the street in the university area of town.

Yesterday -
Caught this troublemaker at a neighbor's.

Later went out for a ride, witnessed a 'truck' crush this poor fellow. Still alive, I uprighted him and moved him into the grass / brush. No way was he going to survive.

My fun on its shakedown ride. Notice the new 22mm width Clement tubulars on the gravel

I met my North Carolina brother for breakfast this morning and when I was driving around the diner to leave I almost missed this. I briefly considered looking for the owner and offering 50 bucks for it but the swanky cover is missing from the rear brake.

I dunno, if the owner's got lights and lock on it, it's probably a regular rider and would turn down your offer anyway. Those are some pretty interesting looking brakes, though, naked or not.
Today I was out on my fixie on the Olympic Discovery Trail, and was passed by a guy on this ancient and battered Pinarello. When he stopped at the Port-o-John a mile up, I caught up to him and shot his bike. Note the custom fillet-brazing repair where the original lug gave way at the bottom of the headtube. The top of the headtube is cracking now, just under the headset, but the guy still rides it. He says his regular ride, a Fondriest, is in the shop with 9-speed freehub woes.

Spotted this beauty wile riding my Paramount along the trail today. The owner brought it with him from Switzerland for vacation. They were liking my Paramount as much as I was liking this one.

Bar setup appears to suggest that the owner cares about his (or her) bike, which leads me to believe the grocery bag on the saddle is merely a theft deterrent.

It is a Columbia, but when is the last time you saw a Columbia tandem. As you might notice it isn't even locked. Somewhere on Harvard campus.

Enountered this (late 70's?) Edi Strobl while out Munich for work in 2010 and I recently found the pictures. It was racked across from the Paramount Studios office on Betastrasse in Unterfoehring. I tried to find the owner, who'd converted to fixed (which locals told me is illegal in DE?) but failed. It's stuck in my head ever since. Would love to get my hands on a fixer-upper at a decent price point, but the only place I've seen them is in and around central Europe, makes sense given they're from Bayern...

I suppose I get the joke, but Columbia (before it went to producing really low end bikes) was really big with the bike clubs in Boston and Cambridge (well going back a 100 years).

I understand, but even in my lifetime Columbia has produced nothing but low end stuff. In my youth if you had a Schwinn coaster brake bike it might be perceived as "better" than a Columbia and was actually not, but soon thereafter Columbia was deservedly relegated to the cheapo department store category.
