They may end up wishing they kept an eye on it like you did, it would be far more secure were it me.

Maybe they took it with them for extra security.

I'd like to think that but expect the truth is otherwise. That routine would be a lot of trouble. Better to have a QR front and take that with you, locking the rear wheel and frame to the rack. No, I'd bet the SE owner got that sickening feeling when he approached.

This one was actually at the co-op yesterday but belongs to an employee so I'm putting it here. I thought for a moment it was the Serotta I posted earlier with a repaint but the guy says is an '80s Univega MTB (Alpina Pro?) with a Surly LHT fork on it. Pretty cool.

I heard you people like Madi bikes

Came across a Masi Gran Criterium today being used as a single speed commuter.

A franken bike outside my local library. Raleigh Gran Sport, Schwinn saddle, single speed hack, inner ring and middle cog of FW, no FD or shifters and I guess removing the bars is a theft deterrent - I think the lock would be sufficient . Oh and I just noticed no brakes although there are levers in the attached plastic sack, maybe it was abandoned or it was left for pick up.....hmmm

Saw this at the local Wholefoods. So nice! My size too! I waited around for the owner to come out but he was shopping for longer than I had time to wait. Or maybe he worked there?

DeRosa with all Campy goodness.
And in RED! I was smitten.

Doesn't look like a place to leave a bike for any appreciable amount of time with the picked over carcass next to it.

I thought about approaching to check it out but you can see the dog heading for my truck, right above the end of the mirror. I thought it best not to get out.

Nicely set up Grand Tourimg. I was just about to snap the pic when the owner emerged from the grocery store. I told her my plan, and asked permission to take the photo. She was happy her bike would be shared with a bunch of C&V geeks online. We talked shop for a moment, and explained how she bought it from the builder on CL. She suspects that the drop bars which it was initially fitted with, didn’t exactly fit her well, and were the cause of a crash which resulted in broken teeth. After setting the cockpit up as shown, and swapping the front hub out for a Shimano dynamo , she’s claims that she’s fallen in love with the bike. It really was a great looking build, but unfortunately this shot was about as telling of one I could get.

^^^ Every time I lock up to a meter curbside like that, I dread the thought of some distracted driver mistaking their brake for the gas, and then hopping the curb as they’re angling in to park.

I'd be more concerned with someone lifting the bike with its cable loop over the top of the meter and walking away with it.

WOW! I failed to catch that detail. Yea, not a smart move. Fortunately a U-lock solves that problem.

Stopped in a cool shop at state college pa today. Freeze thaw bikes. Lots of vintage bikes hanging from ceiling. I thought this vintage work stand was a cool piece.

^ CL ad in Worcester, MA selling 2 of these stands (or something very similar). Cool looking but not sure about them being paint and tubing friendly.
