Feeling Blue: My New Brooks Professional (and a little yellow)

I've confessed before how I am tempted by leather saddles. When this limited edition blue Professional came up on ebay two weeks ago, I was smitten. I decided how much I'd spend, and wait to bid during the final hour or so. Not the best strategy, but it worked.

250 were made. I have number 118. The embossing in the top has something to do with bike messenger races held in Berlin sometime this year.

I though you might like to see it. It was a great match for my not vintage 2001 CAAD 4 Cannondale I built this past June.

It looks terrific, Bob! The blue nicely matches the paint on the Cannondale. With the yellow bottles, your bike reminds me of the Blue Angels' F/A-18 Hornet paint scheme.

I have some blue anodized Mavic rims, but the color would probably clash.

That reminds me - I have a pair of 32h Mavic CXP22's not being used - same anodized blue. Leave it to Bob to give me ideas

There's a lot of C&V influence in that build - sharpest-looking modern Cannie that I've seen. It's a shame a matching blue Elkhide isn't available.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Based on the ebay picture, it was tough to tell how well the blue Brooks would match my blue Cannondale. But I couldn't be more thrilled.

I do plan to change the bar tape (and probably the bars) over the winter. I don't care for the flat section in the tops. Live and learn. Or should I say build and learn?

Beautiful! Blue & Yellow is the best complimentary color combo out there! Well done! Now if I could find a red one...

Probably not as red as you'd like, and more than you want to spend, but here's a Red Professional.

https://cgi.ebay.com/Brooks-Team-Prof...item27ab3ddad1

BTW, I paid about 1/2 of that price for mine, even less than the cost of all but the one with the tubular rivets at Wallingford.

Check out the blue leather wrap from Handlebra: https://store.handlebra.com/ProductDe...e=HBB%2Dcobalt

Two of my riding buddies use it, not cheap but nice stuff.

I'll see if I can get a better picture of mine. This is the one from the Brooks website. If you notice the blue "Berlin" logo on the left of the box, that's sort of what it looks like.

Kurt, if you browse around their website the do have a gallery of different colors but not the blue. What I've seen in person, mostly brown, has been very nice.

I found this one on their website. I like the looks, but the price is up there! I wonder if the tape I used on my Continental might look just as nice?

Brooks should offer a full custom name stamping on the saddles...It might serve as good theft prevention. You can't steal a saddle with a name on it and attempt to rub it off if it is on the top of the hide

The Professional is a real butt busting saddle. Mine is just starting to get comfy. Be sure to goop it with Obenhaufs or Proofhide. I've used nearly entire large jar of on Brooks in hopes of making it more supple and the saddle is still hard as a rock.

No problems with hardness here. This will only be my 7th Professional. As I confessed at the beginning of this thread "I have a problem."

Here are a few more.

That seat is really nice looking and so is your bicycle. But I tryed a Brooks Saddle B17 Special and it was green like my Surly LHT but my butt just could not take it. It hurt to much so I had to sell mine :-( But the Brooks Saddle are sure pretty to look at.
