TWINS! (Blingy Paramount content)

Please welcome the latest, completed addition to the stable - a '72 P-13. Just completed it yesterday. Beat all my previous records: From parts to built in 3 months.

The '70 P-13 is in the background.

The rails don't look like copper to me.

They had the yellowish look in the photos, but I'm also color blind with questionable vision. Regardless, beautiful saddles.

Both of them are chrome. The example on the '70 is a replacement, while the small-rivet on the '72 is original. The only copper-rail Pro that I own is presently on my 1982 Schwinn Superior.

Beautiful bikes. I would one day like to find an old Paramount just to see what the fuss is all about. The trick is to keep on looking. Once again, very nice.

If you like stiff riding machines, you won't regret it. Try and aim for a P-13 that runs 700C's - post '71 if you like Italian handling, pre-'71 if you prefer an English feel. That said, the larger-rim examples - at least, my '70 - aren't as lively. Probably due to the longer chainstays.

Very Nice.

What is the brand of handlebar tape... is that straight cotton, sticky back fabric, or...?

Rabid Koala 11-28-09 05:38 PM

Mmmmmmm! A chrome Paramount is good, two are even better!

Nice job, Kurt.

Velox - cotton with sticky back. I prefer to apply it after dampening it, for it doesn't take corners without a fight (and each roll was short enough to force a partial re-wrap of the Campione Del Mondo bars - 3 attempts per side). They usually do Giro's without much fuss.

Nice job, Kurt.

Spoken by one who knows! :innocent:

So you know what this means, don't you Kurt? ;) When any C&Ver comes to visit you in Miami, you must ride in pairs, on your nearly matched chrome Paramounts, outfitted in matching early '70s racing kits  (that will be the day we see Kurt in any form of spandex), while wearing leather hairnet head protectors. All pictures must be shot using Ektachrome film.

Bee-yoo tee ful! A fine job, Kurt. My wife just asked me what I want for Christmas.
" Oh Sweetheart, would you come here and look at Kurt's pictures."

The same thing could happen in San Diego, save for the spandex.......

I have often wondered what a 1960s/'70s Schwinn wool jersey would have looked like, had one been produced back in the day. I'd probably wear one (though not in present weather conditions - cold).

Hairnet helmets - sooner or later, I'll find one for the collection...

i almost bought that bike last summer when i saw his ad on ebay and there was something about it that made me want to be careful and ask questions, so i asked him to find the serial #, and measure the frame for me, and do some other stuff just to verify it was a real P-mount frame and he wasn't some scammer. he got all flustered when i told him how to measure the frame and yadda yadda, and told me he was pulling the auction until he got some expert help, and now i see he was getting expert help back in 2007. crap! and NICE bike, cuda.

Mainly because he did not know how to measure the frame in the first place. Go through those archived threads - there is no discussion regarding frame size.

I recall him telling me that he was rudely attacked, A&S style, by some of the individuals inquiring on this subject. Put yourself in his shoes.

Is that genuine? If so, were they produced prior to '76 as well?
