Talbot racing frame?

1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to find some more details on a purchase I am thinking about making. I am having trouble tracking down information on the frame though. I'm told it is a handmade Talbot racing frame which was the house brand of Carlton cycle in Vancouver Canada? The bikes complete and comes with Campy super record drive train , campy brakes, campy seat post, American classic hubs, Ciinelli bars and stem, a Concor saddle, and simplex retro friction shifters. Asking price is $400 any one have any thoughts, or knowledge they could lend me?

$400 with a replacement fork is pushing it...Partial Super Record or not. But that's just my opinion...It would likely cost more to build it off of ebay though...

Just some thoughts... no knowledge of the brand:

(I suspect that this is the bike in question: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/1490677709.html )

You are getting a partial super record group + a reynolds 531 frame as a complete functional bike.

Hard to tell in that market of yours...

this will give you an idea for how much a decent super record group retails : http://www.bikingthings.com/vicasuregrse.html

Thank both of you for your thoughts and for the link. Yes that was the ad I was looking at on craigslist. I'll will take them into consideration when I go to see the bike, I still have to see how the fit feels, although I'm expecting/hoping it is going to be proper.

I would be sure to get the original fork with it, and I would not expect to pay $75 for a broken fork!

Just be aware that resale value will be somewhat limited due to the obscure brand. So if you could find a similarly equipped bike in a name brand (say Trek for example), you will be better off.
