anyone know who made this frame?
|
No, but it uses the French thread standard and is from the very late 1970s or early 1980s. The Campagnolo dropouts indicates it's probably butted Reynolds 531 or an equivalent tubeset, but the workmanship, while good, is nothing special and it's likely a mass produced frame.

If that is the original paint color, the only good French bikes I remember seeing in that color were Stellas

Might be a Gitane. They had a similar color in the '70s. Good observation on the BB brg. size on T's part.
Perhaps it's not special but it's not regular either; Campy, 531 I suppose, the Prugnat lugs .... What makes me not so hot on it is the lack of fork and of couyrse the quicky French aspect, to my liking anyway. If you fancy it, CK it from a Gitane perspective. I'm being skeptical of the threads, the seller should know. I've not had a bad time overall on e-bay. |
Although there is no evidence of damage, no fork = red flag to me.
