The so-called 'Safety-Levers' that are attached to the brake-levers and run underneath the handlebar. They were called 'suicide-levers' as most times, if you grabbed them in an emergency stop - you'd keep right on going. SMASH!

PUCH Mistral Competition - what should I know about it?
Hi Manfred,
many months ago you already could support me with some information about a Mistral EL, and later on about my Mistral SE.
now I could get a very nice and interesitng PUCH MISTRAL Competition bike, and want to ask you to say something about its age, and its story.
during the times I tried to collect information about Puch bikes and types but it is not easy as not so many info is available on the net. So before this time, I did not know about this Mistral Competetion.

Unfortunately I see some marks what show that it is modified.
The bianchi green seat (saddle) is probably not original, the the shifters are positioned Shimano RX100 but should not be original as all other is Campagnolo.
As you can see on the photos now it looks quite bad, I plan the refurbish it, make it to a beautifull and very good bike, and make for myself not for sale
(especially that it has extremely light weight, probably due to Reynolds 531 frame.)
so I would be grateful for all info regarding its story age,or the original brochure if you can send it to me.

Hy there! I have a PUCH Mistral and on the fork it has SPRINTER written on. the color is white pearl, Puch is written with red decals, made in Italy; I think it has been modifiied so please, can you help me with the dating of the bike an I am interested in the type of steel tubing used on the frame and fork. Thank you!

Pictures of the bike always help - close-ups of drop-outs, lugs, fork, etc. help on a bike you think may have been modified.

My '81 Olympian is documented @ Bulgier and I can say the Made in Austria lugwork is impressive for a production bike; albeit a nice one with DB531 f&f. In a large size (62cm), the bike needs some speed to come alive - above 16-17mph it handles like a dream, especially with a nice tubular wheelset. It is an exceptional all-day vintage ride.

Like I was saying I am interested to find out what tipe of tubing they used for this frame... Was it cro-mo?
Does the bike have any value as a classic? I would like to build a fixie out of it, but it would be a pity to ruin a clasic bike for that...
Please help me make the right choice!
PS: I am riding it like this for now and it goes like the wind...

The Puch Mistral Sprinter in your gallery is an entry level bike. from 1988 (new price ca. 350 Euro)
The Bike is produced in Italy by one manufacturing company of the piaggio concern. (No real Puch anymore)
The frame is out of HI Ten Steel (ridgid but heavy)
Components are an mix of Weinmann, Miche and Suntour
It is nothing to collect and does not have an real value

I was hoping to have found a valuable bike and I am a bit sad it-s not cr-mo but at least it-s going to make a nice fixed gear bike for going across town! I paid 160 Euro for it(it was reconditioned and the shop gave me one year guarantee). In your opinion was it worth it or did I get ripped off?
Could you post a picture of the cataog where you found it. I would like to see how the bike originaly looked...

Hmmm interesting, I just picked up a rusty Puch Mistral E myself today, so now I am also looking for some bike history. As far as I know, it has the 2500 tubing, mine has Maillard hubs, seems to be one of the entry level models. The serial number on mine is 719748. Any info about history is most welcome.
P.s. Its my first bike so if anybody knows anything that is specific to this bike only, I would greatly appreciate the knowledge.
