BIM "Brooks-a-like" saddle

My dogs went Christmas shopping for me and found this at the local bike hoarder. They got it for a good price and thought it'd look good on my Pug. Stamped in the saddle it says BIM 5 made in FRANCE. On either side of that it says T B. Near the nose of the saddle it says G(C)roupon Garanti. Its a bit dry (think cardboard) but w/ some saddle soap and mink oil or proofhide I think it'll soften up. There are no cracks or tears in the leather.

And here are the pics of my elves.... White one is Oliver (wifes dog) and the greyish one is Murphy (named after the Beer and is mine). Both are brothers that we rescued.

I love it! I'm keeping my eyes out for one for an old motobecane I resurrected (and ruined by making it a fixed gear, but it was gonna go in the garbage so whatever)

I have a BIM.

That would really look at home on your Pug. Great find!

Isn't BIM a pre-Idéale Idéale?

I wish I knew. I did a search when I first got that saddle and found where someone said they were a cheaper line made by Ideale.

I have stumbled across three old BIM saddles and all three were mounted to low end CCMs from the late sixties or early seventies. I have to admit, though, that I have not tested one of these old French butt rests. I should also add that they remind me of the AGDA usually fitted to Peugeots of similar vintage.

Mine is not something you'd want to sit on.

Mine is not something I'd want someone sitting on while I'm riding.

Great find! I need something like that for my new old UO-8 beater. Right now it's got either my recent B17 or 17 Imperial, both of which scream "NNNNEEW!" where the bike screams "Paint me!"

that saddle looks a lot like mine. but mine isn't a BIM, its an AGDA. original equipment on my UO-8.

here is the thread on it: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...dle&highlight=

road fan -- my UO-8 isn't a gem by any means, but the new honey Brooks Professional looks perfect on there!
