I have a 1/4" steel rod holding it, propped against the ground. It's color matches the pave. I ma not sure if it's at the BB or rear axle.

"edit" I zoomed in and looked for it and there is no evidence. I think it must be hidden from view by the bike.

Got a Peugeot PKN13 as well as a Nishiki Road Master.
All original apart from only two chainrings instead of three (like PKN10 and pk10), so 18 gears from the start.
On my way to get the last chainring with 30t (the original was 32t) so close to original.
No Simplex rear derailler but Campagnolo Nouvo Gran Tour, other than those two all stock, even the seat.

I have that bike's transplanted grandson... A Kinesis framed Motobecane Sprint. I'd love a real, lugged Motobecane some day!

Here's my Bernard Dangre, which has recently come down from a hook in the garage. It's as I found it with some new ugly paint touchup work, and a cracked but rideable Norex saddle that I found at the flea market.

That's a nice French bike we do not see here in the US at all. Plus nice Vitus tubing too. Must be just a domestic market bike and not sold outside of Europe. Is the brand even on Velobase? you should pot it up in the site if it isn't.
Just wondering, were CLB "Sulky" brakes designed to be used for sulkies??.......you know, the small two wheeled lightweight contraption pulled by race horses around a track.

My Frenchie commuter. I think she is a ph10LE. (HLE tubing, downtube shifters, 12 speeds) Sorry about the picture but I only have a cell phone camera.

Gorgeous bike Roger! - French and blue - what a classic!
... And to think - there are some people who disparage French bikes. Amazing.

Thanks Auchen. I commend the original owner and his son for keeping this bike in such good care. As I cleaned it up, I noted the condition of some parts that normally would have aged after 38 years(spoke protector, crankset, chrome,etc.). I have another bike that I'm working on of the same vintage, and it looks pathetic(neglected, left outside for a long time rusted out).

I only gave it a quick service and bath. When I have more time(maybe next fall), I'll strip it down and do a thorough service/cleaning.

Thanks Chombi,

When I first bought the bike, I couldn't find much info other than a mention of a mention that Paris Sport and a few other brands were sourced from Dangre-Starnord. I also saw an identical frame/fork on eBay that sold for an exorbitant amount (probably due to the obscurity more than anything) a year or so ago.

I've since seen dozens of them on French classified sites, they're apparently very common in France. As for the CLB's, I probably made somebody sulky when I sniped a set of NOS levers for these hoods a few weeks ago

I also came upon another old sauvage ebay listing that had ended. I see why Sauvage Lejeune became Lejeune. That head badge is not very PC!

https://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-SAUVAGE-...-/160569396372

Check out that one and some of the other bikes the seller has listed. Bikes sure were functional back in the day!

I'm kind of a CLB fan and watch those auctions for them at eBay every week. I feel that no other brakeset seems to exude as much "Frenchiness" as CLB brakes, specially with their seemingly obssesive approach thay had to weight weenieness with their brakesets.........did you notice the nice gold anodized compact brakeset that just sold for close to 200 bucks shipped? I did not bother bidding for it because I knew it was going stratospheric price-wise, although I would not feel good if I had a bike that needed gold anodized brakes. I bet a C&V forum member snagged it for some ongoing gold component themed C&V project!....Uhmmmm Kurt maybe?

Bernard Dangre is the same manufacturer than France Loire/St etienne/.... it was a factory near St etienne who sold bike to independante dealer an after supermarket in france from WWII till the 80"

CLB used Sulky name to refer to the lightness of the sulky ,horse races use to be the only (except loterie) french "Las Vegas",I mean the only game you can play money and the sunday race was folow by the same people that race on bike inthe sunday morning
