Low to mid Manufrance/ St. Etienne branded CDI that I bought new in 73 or 4 and upgraded then with some better parts. It was slowly decaying in storage for 20 plus years and I decided to revive it. Replaced derailleurs to use triplizer from Red Clover.

Thanks bikemig! Thanks to knowledge acquired from digging through posts and some parts from forum members it's better than it ever was. Smooth, strong, not too precious, mostly dialed in. The noisiest thing on the bike is my clicking ankle.

Thanks very much for sharing your frankish Curry!

The forum has had a thread or two on the italian ones.

One poster reports they were sourced from Liotto Gino.

Yours is the first example from Gaul have had the opportunity see.

Ordered from CDI a couple times in the late 1970's. IIRC they ceased play somewhere in the early to mid 1980's. The recession of 1982 was tough on many in the cycle trade.

Your example looking great; you have really done a fine job of suiting to your requirements.

Thanks again for sharing it.

This thing came to me with heavily used Campy+Champion wheels, UV-deteriorated plastic derailleurs, a rotted+moldy+cracked brooks, strangely shiny TA cranks (which I traded to someone with a more pristine French build going on) and a kinda short but really pretty 3ttt stem which I intend on using on a future bike. The decals must’ve been put on on a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon- crooked and missing the 531 tag on one side of the fork.

I got it while searching for a Trek 700 Tri Series or a non-rusted Super Course 12 as an emergency replacement for my cracked Bridgestone commuter.

It’s just a dual-pivot front caliper away from being my favorite bike yet! I’m a little hesitant to drill out the fork for that upgrade.

Just picked up this Gitane Apache Standard frame with components yesterday (my wheels just added for show) and think I can make something from this. Overall in decent shape, just needs some love and some touch ups.

thanks for posting

good find

count yourself fortunate that it came through with Huret gears

chainset appears DURAX

is outer C/W mounted with rivets or with bolts?

would expect square headed bolts

the cinque vis design opens a world of gearing options without the need to change the chainset

so much more practical than the usual three-arm set which came on Gran Sport Delux models

please make a thread on this machine when you commence working with it

@Hproduguidon, beautiful bikes! I have a lower-tier model - a C2/Grand Sprint, and it is one of my all-time favorites. It is easily one of the nicest riding bikes I've ever had, and I have a preference for this style of paint and graphics over the earlier Motobecane bikes.

Thanks for sharing.

Since pointing out the colour scheme I have to agree how awesome those look, especially if you were have them side by side, really unique looking. This is weird but it reminds me of an old Marvel comic book series I used to collect, called The Micronauts. I think a film is to be released in the next year or so.
