@Hproduguidon, beautiful bikes! I have a lower-tier model - a C2/Grand Sprint, and it is one of my all-time favorites. It is easily one of the nicest riding bikes I've ever had, and I have a preference for this style of paint and graphics over the earlier Motobecane bikes.

is outer C/W mounted with rivets or with bolts?
would expect square headed bolts
the cinque vis design opens a world of gearing options without the need to change the chainset
so much more practical than the usual three-arm set which came on Gran Sport Delux models
please make a thread on this machine when you commence working with it

Do you know what the gear ratio would have been on this bike? The wheel I had on for show was a Shimano 6 speed freewheel on Rigida rims which originally came with my CDN built Peugeot so could I use that or have to find something specific?

Since pointing out the colour scheme I have to agree how awesome those look, especially if you were have them side by side, really unique looking. This is weird but it reminds me of an old Marvel comic book series I used to collect, called The Micronauts. I think a film is to be released in the next year or so.

This is the circa-82 PH19 I just finished redoing. I'm currently eyeing what looks to be an early 80s Motobecane but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I don't know much about the production of these bikes, but I remember reading opinions that the construction of top level Motobecane frames was farmed out to non-factory builders. Do you know if this is true, or where the C4 and C5 frames were made?

Mix of Campy looks great...the C-Record cranks and Delta brakes came stock on the 87 Team Pros which have this same livery but cable is routed up from bottom on top tube (my wife and I both have the 87 models). I built hers up in late 80s from a bare frame set (you could buy just as frames in 87) and I finally found one for me several months back.

Replaced the orig parts w/ different seatpost, bar, stem, crank, rear der & Campy 8-sp Bullit Shifters to an 8-sp Sachs freewheel.
Orig, I equipped it all w/ Campy SR cmpnts.
Was my 1st nice bike & a great, smooth ride.
Should I return it to the way it was...?

I remember drooling over the 87 Team Pros in the catalog back in 87. Followed by the Pearl White Replicas the next year. I couldn’t afford it then and can’t find one now. Cest la Vie.
I really want to find an 84.

I bought it new as a frame only in the late 70’s from a retired French racer that owned a bike shop in Calif.
A 59 cm c-c frame with Reynolds 531 tubing. Originally, built it up complete with Campy Super Record componentry.
Rode this bike many a year, until I bought a Colnago Superissimo frame. Still in exclnt condition w/ only a few paint chips. Have not ridden it much (if at all ) since I moved onto other bike with modern shifting. The only issue I had with it, was that the Cinelli handlebars are too narrow for my liking. I prefer a wider bar. Other than that, a very nice riding Motobecane bike.
I can post more pics of the way it was if you’d like...?

Near as I can figure, a ‘74 model.
Campy brakes are long reach & had to add a drop-bolt for the rear. Have replacement decals...esp for the fork! Edco Comp Hdset, Fancy Campy Aluminum 6-sp freewheel. Swiss BB threads
w/ Teledyne Ti spindle. Fairly lightweight @ 20 lbs.

Gorgeous bike. I had one quite like it, but an 85 Professionel, nearly the same kit, except for Super Record crankset, 1/R stem, Cello over Cinelli tape, "aero" Victory seatpost, and 2nd gen Looks (the 478g "lightweights", later replaced by CB Candys). Now stolen. Still my favorite bike ever, and a current "grail" bike.

Took my newly built 1980 PFN-10 on its second ride today. I have definitely fallen in love.
I tried to keep the build mostly French and I already had many of the parts in the bin. Wheelset and crank were purchased from the C&V forums.
