Some people slag the Classic and the Sport for being prone to punctures but run them at reasonable pressures and stay away from debris strewn commuting streets and you should be fine.

Noticed that my newly acquired Liberia on this thread (post #3446) has a new set of Michelin Dynamic Classic tires, which I have no experience with. Sounds like they're pretty decent, though.

Wow!

Those bikes have a combination of features I've never seen on any bike marketed in the U.S.

Gitane TDF - US and European specs

I think that TDFs produced for the North American market had Reynolds 531 for all tubes, but here in Europe only the three main tubes were 531.

Not good posting pics (and just joined so don't have the posts) but I have a Jeunet Franche Comte 10 speed I bought new when I was in high school in 1974 or 1975 at the LBS. I think it was about $70 or $80. I had bought it with summer job money. I had it tuned p a few years back, and got it out again this summer.

Pair of nice Peugeots there. I've always like the diagonal stripes graphics. It looks nice on dark gray.

Me too. It's a style/colorway that companies like All-City have paid homage to on models such as the Space Horse:

there’s great bike riding and hiking on both sides of the Rhine. Ive hiked a fair bit in Bayern as well near the Chiemsee. Lovely bike.I have a PX10 and I swapped out the crank for an 86 bcd strong light crank with 50/36 rings. It helped me with hill climbing.

edit: that’s a 122 bcd strong light crank, right? It can go down to 37.

That PY10 is amazing. It looks a lot like a bike I had when it was made.

My three Peugeot restorations

A filthy and dilapidated bike out of a pawn shop in South Central LA

My restored 1975 Peugeot UO8

$100 off of Craigslist -- and possibly a bike I once owned long ago.

My restored 1987 Peugeot Triathlon

A blank canvas -- a Vitus 979 frame

My early 1980's Peugeot PX10 DU creation.

@juliywann Thanks! I was fortunate to already have French cups and a triple Stronglight spindle in my parts bin. I believe I purchased the French cups from Boulder Bicycle. They have a rotating inventory of oddball vintage parts. The cups were a “just in case” buy, and then the need presented itself.
