Waiting on a TT clamp. Close enough to call it done. A plug for LEH Leather in Austin, TX. Carson and Sandra ultimately sent me three different tapes in order for me to get what I wanted. Great customer service.

My latest edition from France.The frame is French, and it was originally fabricated in France (says the sticker). All other parts except for the wheels are not from France, but were added later.

Back in '71, I bought my Gitane new with paper route money.
With the help of my older brother, we made some prudent upgrades.
Nuovo Record brakeset to replace the Mafac Competition.
Ideal saddle swap-o-la with the stock Unicanitor.
3T stem and bars for whatever Gitane supplied at the time.
Fiamme Red Label rims for the Mavic Montherly. (spelling?)
A few small things got replaced over the course of time, but bike's core items remain original.
I slapped Modolo hoods on, recently, just because they're super cheap, but own proper Campy ones tucked away.
Raced and trained hard with it as a kid, taking my share of spills along the way.

Miraculously held on to my first high-end road bike for over fifty years.

Peugeot camping bike early 1960s.

I had this bike for 2 years and recently sold it, due to moving to a smaller place. It's a French camping bike with guidonnet brake levers and Mafac cantilevers. 650b Rigida Chrome rims. It has seens some use and has a bit of patina.
Bicycles with guidonnets were only available in France itself, they only moved outside France in the second-hand market.
It is from around 1962 or 1964, not sure. I cannot find the exact model and color scheme in the magazines that are available.
Most of the parts are still original, except for handlebar tape (it needs to be two-part plastic), dynamo and saddle.

This bike I have since 2016. It needed lots of maintenance, but I do hope everything is in order now
It is not from 1978, so I assume it is from 1977 or there about.
Color is transparent green, very 1970s.
650b Rigida Chrome rims that are still quite okay (except when it is raining). Bar tape is still original and the guidonnet brakes are very enjoyable with the leverage, very different from standard road levers. The chainguard is useless, my jeans get dirty anyway. The sidepulls that were on it were terrible, like from a children's bicycle, they have been upgraded to Altenburger. I plan to keep this one for a while more.

I was told that it Is a 1950. I took it apart and cleaned everything repacked bearings and rode it. I didn’t repack the pedal bearings because these are some of the nicest pedals I’ve ever seen. The Simplex derailleur works great. The brakes aren’t bad and overall it is a surprisingly good riding bike. Dings dents repairs paint loss. Rode hard and put away wet. I wish it was bigger.

The one that started it all. Purchased for $200 from a local racer in Columbia, MO 1972. Sort of an anniversary ride Saturday.

What a wonderful old bike! Pelissier was a big name in performance cycling for a long time. My circa 1965 Dilecta Le Blanc carries a later set of Pelissier hubs with Super Champion rims.

Interesting use of that front rack to create a return spring for the front brake.
At least that's what it looks like to me. Perhaps the rear brake uses a customary spring.
Very cool bike. It begs for tubulars, tho.

Still work in progress, meant to be a sunny Sunday ride. The frame is Grand Sprint 79/80. Weinmann 605 brakes, Weinmann brake levers, Belleri bars (with Hutchinson covers), Belleri stem, Stronglight Competition bottom bracket, Stronglight 105TER crankset, Stronglight P3 headset, Suntour Perfect freewheel, Huret Success Titane rear derailleur, Huret Success front derailleur, Huret ratcheting shifters. SR seatpost and pedals. Generic chromoplastic mudguards. SanMarco Concor / Tuono saddle.
I have noticed something with the drivetrain is out of whack. Looking at the front derailleur, the chain moves from side to side, generally not enough to shift between the chain rings, but I need to take off the crankset and BB and examine it all. I will be also probably replacing the shifters with Huret Challenger / Success ones and I'm building a new wheelset for it, more appropriate on NOS Maillard hubs and Michelin Dynamic tyres. Current wheels are Mach1 rims on no-name hubs (and Michelin Liteon 3 tyres). The saddle will probably be replaced with Selle Italia Turbo if I manage to recondition it. And then, time, funds and luck allowing, might find Atom French thread pedals and Stronglight Aero seatpost for it.

I did put my 1971 back together, using whatever I had on hand that would fit. It had been stripped and in storage because it’s too small for me but I wanted it as a guest bike at our upstate house.



It’s now joined by a 1972 in my size. I believe I’m the third forum member to have this frame. It’s a great build and I’ve enjoyed riding it. Never thought I’d own two of these icons.

I can’t part with it. It belonged to the person that taught me to ride and wrench 50 years ago in high school. I thought it was the cat’s spats back then, and I still do! We reconnected in 2011 and he asked me to take it since he’d stopped riding years before. He put over 87k miles on it…this bike is very precious to me.

I have recently acquired a 54cm Track Jeunet Franche-Comte! It has a lot of french parts that will be replaced with NOS or new parts, new paint, and decals. What's on her now are Normandy hubs, Mavic sew-up wheels, A Duprat cotter pin crank, Christophe clips, generic pedals, an unknown headset, bb, drop bars, seat post, and seat. I have an atax stem and a slew of parts on my to-buy list. Still unsure of doing anything until I find solid information on the bike. I can't find much from this french bike manufacturer let alone this era of a track-specific bike. The history of the bike from the previous owner was, purchased in Virginia around 2010, too small so it sat in Chatanooga until I picked it up. Anyone with solid information for this specific era let alone a track-specific bike would be cool! Anyway, enjoy the bike until it's disassembled!

Oh, I know exactly what you mean. Mine doesn't have quite that personal history, but a PX-10 was a bike I wanted so badly when I was 10 or 11 or so.

Looks really sweet, even though I'm not usually a fan of bright paint, in this case it looks awesome. As for handlebar finishing tape, Tesa makes a very good fabric tape which is perfect for that purpose. I think they make black, brown, red, silver and white. Works great with cotton tape.
