Here are some recent photos of my frenchies. Both in 100% commuter service at the moment, and serving very well.

How's about a neo-French BB on a classical French bike?

Late 60's UO-18 Peugeot:

1971 UO-8 Peugeot:

1977 Motobecane Super Merage Mixte:

All three bikes require restoration; the Moto is pretty much finished, just lacking cables and a chain. The Moto was the most expensive of the three French bikes, cost me $10.00 but it also came with another Mixte frame set abd a pair of wheels. The Peugeots were basically free, costing me only labor on a friends bikes

PVN10? PXN10? Doesn't matter as it's a nice ride. It has Simplex retrofriction shifters which work well with the Simplex SJA102 front/SX410T rear derailleurs. Maillard 14-24 6-sp freewheel, Normandy Luxe Comp hubs laced to Mavic Mod E rims, Stronglight 104(?) cranks, Weinmann 605 sidepulls with Mafac levers, Peugeot labeled Atax stem, Philippe Franco-Italia bars, SR Laprade seat post. Not sure about the headset (cheap Stronglight?). Original Lyotard pedals were replaced with Ofmega (Christophe toe clips) and original saddle (Gallet?) replaced with a Brooks Swift.

Thank goodness the Gitane I had my eye on locally has been sold. This thread isn't helping me save money one bit. Beautiful bikes.

I do not recall seeing a Peugeot in that color before.... Maybe I'm just thick or something... I'm still a little bit ambivalent to the white bars tape with the black seat. Perhaps black bar tape would have been a little better. In any case, that is a gorgeous build! Very nice.

My Moto mixte with the new Pasela tires - it makes a daily trip down the gravel road to the mailbox and off with the kids. My daughter laughs and says I'm riding a "girls" bike - but I don't really care. It's a fun bike to cruise on. My oldest son even asks if he can ride it.
